WinTel is a slang term that references a PC built with an Intel microprocessor and a Microsoft OS. WinTel's architecture, which remains the dominant desktop and laptop platform, is commonly known as Wintel computing. Wintel is the term used for PCs based on the Intel microprocessor and one of the Windows operating systems from Microsoft. Much of California State Government IT infrastructure is standardized on the Wintel Platform.
