HOW TO ACE A JOB INTERVIEW?

Preparing for an interview takes a lot more than Googling a list of common interview questions. You have to make a great first impression appearance-wise (no wrinkly suits here!) have a great knowledge of your target company and its product, and, of course, know exactly how to convey that you're the perfect fit for the job.

The following are a few ways for you to help prepare for a job interview. You will learn what to expect from an interview along with a few tips to help you better perform.

For better understanding of the entire process, we will divide the process into three parts:

1. Pre- preparation

2. Things to do during the interview and

3. Things to do post your interview.

Deciding what to wear to an interview is often a stressful part of the preparation process. Successful job interviews depend on both how well you answer questions and how you present yourself. That’s why a smart, pulled-together appearance can help convince the hiring manager that you’re a great fit for the company.

Before choosing an interview outfit, research the company to determine how formal their workplace is. If you’ve checked the company website and social media pages but still can’t determine the dress code, try calling the company’s HR department. Explain that you have an upcoming interview and would like to know the appropriate dress code.

It’s also a good idea to consider the role and industry. If you’re interviewing for a corporate position in finance or law, for example, wear formal business attire. For men, this means a matching suit and tie. For women, it could be a tailored dress, pantsuit or skirt suit or Indian formal attire.

Do a dress rehearsal- Try on your complete outfit a few days ahead of the interview to ensure everything fits properly and looks clean and professional. Do a mock interview with a friend or family member while wearing your interview outfit to see how it fits and feels. The night before, check one last time for any wrinkles, stains, holes or pet hair.

Print hard copies of your resumeMost employers ask for digital copies of your resume with the application, but they may not have easy access to it during the interview itself. Having copies to present to multiple interviewers shows that you're prepared and organized. You should have at least three copies to provide for multiple interviewers, plus one for yourself to follow along.

Your interview begins from the very first impression. Say you have arrived on time and are greeting your interviewer. It is proven that smiling, making right eye contact will increase your chances of getting hired.

During the interview, your non-verbal communication is very important. These include an upright sitting position and making eye contact with each person in the room.

The following topics are always and almost discussed for an interview of any role.

This firstly includes your life course. These include questions about your background. The employer tries to get a clear image of you. What you have done in your life, Why, what kind of a person you are and what qualities do you own.

Second, Your motivation The employer will ask you questions about your motivation. Why do you want to work with this organisation? Why does this position appeal to you?

It is important to have a thoughtful answer to these questions. Your motivation also becomes a primary aspect to know the knowledge you have about this company, product and services.

Lastly, Competences- The employer wants to know if you are the right fit who possess the necessary skills and characteristics necessary for this job. The employer will also try to evaluate if you can work effectively in a team. The chance of you getting selected is higher if you have the right conversation dynamicOne way to achieve this is to give short and accurate answers.

The interviewer can ask follow-up questions when necessary. Try to engage with them as well by asking open-minded questions during or at the end of the interview. In order to focus on your non-verbal parts, you need to be well-prepared. Grooming also plays a vital role in your interview. Dress for the job you want.

Try practising with a friend who can play the part of an interviewer.

Get ready to follow up after the interview

After your interview, you should prepare to follow up with the employer. Doing so reminds the employer of your conversation, shows them you are genuinely interested in the position and gives you the opportunity to bring up points you forgot to mention.
